Joseph Bacon Hamblin

Mr. Joseph Bacon Hamblin, 75, of Gray, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at his home.  He was born November 1, 1947, in Hamilton, OH, the son of the Rev. James H. and Laura Lucinda Walthall Hamblin.  Mr. Hamblin was a retired school administrator and minister.  He served our country in United States Army.  Surviving are his wife, Richelle B. “Shelly” Hamblin; his children, Shannon Hobson, Marshall Hamblin (Sarah), Jonathan Hamblin, and Jessica Kirk (Tom); his stepchildren, Trevor Dougherty and Ryan Dougherty; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Paula Baucom (John), Carol Curlee (Barry) and Mitzi Hamblin; his brother, James H. Hamblin, Jr. (Tina); and a sister-in-law, Raynelle B. Hamblin.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamblin was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Hamblin.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Chris Boyd officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local humane society.
