Mr. Joseph Edward Isaacs, 76, of Thurmond, a loving husband, father, and papa, passed away Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born June 21, 1934, in Rockingham County, VA, to the late Adolphus Virgil and Margie Isaacs. Ed was a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church and retired from Yellow Freight Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Lyles; and special friends, George Childress and Charlie Wilmoth. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Draughn Isaacs of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bill Speaks of Winston-Salem and Kathryn and Gary Darnell of Fairview, TN; a son, Jeffrey D. Isaacs of the home; five grandchildren, Will and Ashleigh Speaks, Justin Speaks and his fiancée, Carly Randall, Kristin and Chris Ertel, Amy Darnell, and Andrew Darnell; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Speaks, Emily Speaks, and Brian Ertel; a sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Robert Hayes of Thurmond; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Peggy Isaacs of Thurmond; several nieces and nephews; a lot of loving cousins; and special friends, Eugene and Betty Wilmoth and Harlon and Brenda Stewart. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Charity Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Cardwell and the Rev. Marvin Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Charity Hill Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Isaacs family.


Service Information

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 28, 2010 11:00 A.M. at Charity Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Brian Cardwell and Rev. Marvin Blackburn will conduct the services. The Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Charity Hill Baptist Church.
