Mr. Joseph Jefferson "Jeff" Lawson, 54, of 135 Foster Lane, Lowgap, passed away Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lawson was born March 29, 1954, in Galax, VA, to the late Joe Shaffer and Launith Vernon Lawson. Jeff fulfilled his lifetime passion as a truck driver with several different trucking companies before retiring from Dobson Trucking Company. He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and David White of Dobson and Vivian and Patrick Leftwich of White Plains; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Becky Lawson, Larry Lawson, and Ricky and Billie Lawson, all of Mount Airy; two nieces, Dakota Lawson and Christie Horton, both of Mount Airy; three nephews, Eric Easter and Tanner Easter, both of White Plains, and Justin Dillon of Westfield; and a special friend, Chime Johnson of King. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Lawson; and a nephew, B.J. Lawson. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Woody Edwards and the Rev. Vladimir Strejcek officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Teresa and David White, 2145 Old Rockford Road, Dobson. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to Jeff during his illness.
