Mr. Joseph Glenn Nixon, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at his home. Mr. Nixon was born February 24, 1914, in Surry County, to Worry Emory and Latisha Etta Coe Nixon. He was retired from Mount Airy Furniture Company. Mr. Nixon was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and trustee. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Nixon and Glenda and Don Weddle, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Jeff Nixon and wife, Debbie, of Pilot Mountain, Sheri George of Westfield, Tim Weddle and wife, Judy, of Mount Airy, LeeAnn Nixon of Mount Airy, and Dallas Weddle of Dallas, NC; great grandchildren, Sara George, Rebecca George, Tyler Weddle, Noah Weddle, and Landon Holmes; and special friends, Gene and Maggie Lewellyn of Greensboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nixon was preceded in death his wife, Mary Ethel Hall Nixon; five sisters; and three brothers. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Skyline Memory Gardens, conducted by Dr. David Brady. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, but friends may visit the family at any time at the home of Frances Nixon, 157 Williamson Avenue, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church, 1327 Grove Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
