Joseph Clyde Stanley

Mr. Joseph Clyde Stanley, 88, of Elkin passed away at 9:45 am on January 9, 2020, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Surry County to the late John Alvin Stanley and Cora Reece Stanley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.  Clyde was a faithful member of Little Richmond Baptist Church.  He was a former employee of Chatham Manufacturing Company and a retired farmer.  Some of his hobbies in life included hunting, fishing, and gardening.  Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family and especially his four great-grandchildren.  Left to carry on his strong family values are his loving wife of 69 years, Shelby Jean Coe Stanley; son, Joseph Daniel Stanley and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Travis Scott Stanley and Keisha, Justin Daniel Stanley and Amber; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ragan Stanley and Reeves and Maxwell Clyde Stanley; brothers, Jack Stanley and Dennis Stanley; sisters, Georgia Stanley Barnes, Helen Stanley Pratt, and Nellie Stanley Hemric.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Junior Stanley, Spencer Stanley, Bobby Stanley and Carrie May (Tennie) Stanley Scott.  A funeral service will be held at Little Richmond Baptist Church beginning at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2020, with Rev. J.V. Lowe officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Richmond Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 164 Kitty Way, Elkin, NC 28621.
