Joseph Brown (Buster) Stocks

Mr. Joseph Brown (Buster) Stocks, age 71, of Albany, KY, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Stocks was born August 5, 1935 in Enfield, NC to Annie Doleta Stocks Hathaway. He served our country in the Unites States Maries from 1954 to 1958 and in the Unites States Air Force from 1958 to 1962 and was a retired Policeman. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Bret Dixon of Ofallon, IL; two sons, David Gates of Ararat, VA and Dennis Gates of Lantana, FL; grandchildren, Cristopher Dixon, Courtney Dixon, Joey Dixon, Mark Gates and Thomas Gates; sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberta and Eddie Faulkner of Dutton, VA; Carolyn and Danny Williams; Janice and Grover Adkins all of Enfield, NC; Sandy and Bruce Smith of Durham, NC; Kathy and Eddie Hobgood of Lutz, FL; a brother, Bill Hathaway of Albany, KY; his former wife and best friend, Shirley Rhuda of Ofallon, IL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, Mr. Stocks was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce McArdle and Pat Hamilton and brothers, Alfred G. Hathaway, Jr., Pete Hathaway and Tom Hathaway. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bruce Smith. Burial will follow at Hunters Chapel Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
