Mr. Joseph Henry “Joe” Wilhite, 66, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, January 5, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mr. Wilhite was born March 21, 1956, in Forsyth County, one of six children born to the late Ramey and Martha Winonia Hiatt Wilhite. Joe worked at Pike Electric for many years and was a member of Joylight Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Payne Wilhite of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Crystal Hamilton and Heath Goodson and Misty and Rodney Johnson, all of Mount Airy; a special grandson, Cade Joseph Hamilton of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie and the Rev. David Hawkins of Pilot Mountain and Martha Eaton of Mount Airy; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Danny and Alice Wilhite, Betty Wilhite, and Sharon Wilhite Gravely, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Chad Wilhite of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by seven stillborn grandchildren, including Corbin Hamilton and Colton Hamilton; two brothers, Frankie Wilhite and R.J. Wilhite; and a brother-in-law, Steve Eaton. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dale Bass and the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
