Joshua Derreck Keith, age 35 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born in Patrick County on April 7, 1986. He was preceded in death his paternal grandparents, Waitman and Evelyn Keith; maternal grandparents, Pete and Madeline Marshall (“Pops” and “Nanny”); one aunt, Joyce “Susie” Borneman; one uncle, Nelson Keith; and one cousin, Emily Borneman. Everyone who knew Josh would tell you he never met a stranger, was a loyal member of the Raider Nation, and his world revolved around his boys. It was a tradition, like clockwork, every payday to take his boys for ice cream on Friday. He loved his family fiercely, and above all loved being a Daddy.
Josh is survived by two precious sons, Jaxon Tatum Keith and Remy Stiles Keith, both of the home; his mother, Penny Marshall Keith (Ricky Conner) of Meadows of Dan; his father, Tony Keith of Meadows of Dan; one sister, Jessi Thomas (Dustin) of Vesta; one niece, “Kinley” Thomas; one nephew, Deacon Thomas; close cousins, Brigitte Creech (Larkin), Lee Marshall (Amanda), and Amanda Borneman; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
A memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Lewis Family Cemetery with Pastor Larkin Creech officiating. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations can be made for the care of the children, c/o Penny M. Keith, 536 Langhorn Mill Road, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
From a post by his friend Marcus Dalton:
“Sometimes it makes me sad, though…Josh being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away. The part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.
Rest easy, my dude. You are missed and loved"
