Miss Josie Alma Hamlin, 87, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Yadkin Nursing Care Center, Inc. Miss Hamlin was born in Surry County, April 27, 1922, to the late Claude William and Minnie Poindexter Hamlin. She was a retired inspector from Chatham Manufacturing after 42 years of service and a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her dear sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Vance Thompson; and many cherished nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends. In addition to her parents, Miss Hamlin was preceded in death by four sisters, Judie Hamlin Brendle, Lucy F. Hamlin, Jewell Hamlin Venable, and Brenda Joyce Hamlin; and three brothers, William Clyde Hamlin, Sr., Crawley L. Hamlin, and Billy W. Hamlin. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 7:00 PM at Salem Baptist church in Dobson, by the Rev. Jay Worsley and Eulogist William C. Hamlin, Jr. and Trenton Snow. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:30 until the hour of the funeral service. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. Darrell Tate. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Yadkin Nursing Care Center, Inc. for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
