Joy C. Helms

Mrs. Joy C. Helms, 78, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Surry County on August 25, 1944, to the late Raymond and Treva Jane Younger Collins.  Mrs. Helms was a retired financial officer at Wells Fargo, and a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Joy would always greet you with a great smile.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Steve Arnett; sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. Gray and Kim Williams, and Louis Williams; grandchildren, Amanda Hogan, Bradley and Rachel Williams, Bret Woodruff, Miranda Woodruff, and Sara Woodruff; a great grandchild, Cameron Parmer; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Jack Edwards; a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Donna Collins; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Helms.  A memorial service will be held Monday, January 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. David Sparks and the Rev. Gray Williams officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the church.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the Helms family.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt.
