Joyce Canady Baker died Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Margate in Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thelma Hill Canady and James Benjamin Canady. She was born November 7, 1944, in Morehead City. Joyce grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Meredith College. She worked for the American Psychological Association for many years in Washington, D.C. Over the years, she lived in England, Florida, and California, before moving to Mount Airy. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Coram, Sr.; a niece and her husband, Wendy and Dean Spainhour; a nephew, Jerry Coram, Jr.; two great nieces, Madison Spainhour and Anna Coram; and three great nephews, Tripp Spainhour, JB Coram, and Julius Coram. There will be a family graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alzheimer Foundation of your choice.
