Joyce Hawks

Ms. Joyce Hawks, 54 of Cana, VA went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 25, 2007. Ms. Hawks was born in Surry County April 12, 1952 to the late Clifford Oscar and Lila Duncan Doss. She was a member of Fellowship Tabernacle Church and a loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend to everyone. She leaves behind a devoted lifelong best friend, Vestal Hawks of Cana; a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Dwayne Hawks Hemrick of Mt Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie and Tabitha Hawks of Cana, Clifford and Janet Hawks of Galax and Sparky and Millette Hawks of Dobson; nine grandchildren, Isaac Burton, Abigail, Shane and Cheyanne Hawks, Jimmy and Samantha Simone, Ryan Johnson, Corey Dalton, Caleb Shelton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Eldridge Worrell of Mt. Airy, Joan and Gary Crotts of Mt. Airy, Evelyn "Ebbie" Reutzel of Cana; a brother, Kenneth "Bud" Doss of Mt. Airy; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a special friend, Linda Jones. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hawks was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Harrell and a life long friend, Willie Combs. A memorial service will be conducted, at 3:00 PM, Sunday at Fellowship Tabernacle Church in Lambsburg, VA by Rev. Donald Bryant. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and at other times at her home, 109 Lakeview Rd, Cana, VA.
