Joye Monday Hawks

Mrs. Joye Monday Hawks, 69, wife of Mr. R.C. Hawks, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2009 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on February 27, 1940 to the late Earl Samuel and Ruby Woodall Monday. Mrs. Hawks was retired from Spencer's Inc. and a dedicated member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Raymond C. "R.C." Hawks of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Terri Beasley of Mount Airy, Christy and Robert Potts of Dobson and Gina and Larry Brown of Yadkinville; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Marie Hawks of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Trinton Beasley, Nicki Darnell, Zeb Potts, Adam Brown, Casey Brown and Maggie Hawks; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Beasley, Maddie Beasley and Kileigh Darnell; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kathryn Monday of Ohio. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Monday. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday October 23, 2009 at Amazing Grace Baptist Church cemetery by Rev. Jonathan Barker with burial to follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
