Judy Gay Soper

Mrs. Judy Gay Lewis Soper, 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on March 29, 1946, to the late James Vincent and Alice Simmons Lewis.  Mrs. Soper was a retired truck driver of 38 years.  She is survived by a daughter, Michelle O’Rourke; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lauren O’Rourke; grandchildren, Lee and Shannon O’Rourke, Victoria and Michael Sibelu, Chris and Kiley O’Rourke, Paige O’Rourke, Dillon and Anna Catherin Stewart, Payton O’Rourke, Alexis Hagler, Alex Hagler, Kaylee Hagler, Eden Draughn, Samatha Petty; nine great grandchildren and one on the way; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula and Don Grey, Karen Lewis, Robin and Dale Jones; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Debi Lewis; many nieces and nephews; four very special friends, Rita, Lisa, Jeannie and Linda;.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Soper was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Wallace Soper.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Serven, the Rev. Joe Shelton, and Chaplin Karen Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Peoples Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
