Mrs. Julia Prather Bolich, 100, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007, at RidgeCrest Retirement Center. Mrs. Bolich was born July 21, 1907, in Surry County, to Jesse F. and Cora Quincey Prather. She graduated from Converse and Queens College with a major in music, and taught music in the Forsyth County public schools for 14 years. While living in Washington, DC, with her husband, John Marion Bolich, she worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 30 years. Mrs. Bolich retired to her home of Mount Airy in 1972. She celebrated her 100th birthday with a reception at RidgeCrest Retirement Center. She directed the RidgeCrest Choral Group until last year. She was also a member of Central United Methodist Church for more than 30 years. She is survived by two nieces, Sallie Crawford of Hillsborough and Ferrell D. Rutledge of Arizona; a great-niece, Anna Frate of Wilmington; a nephew, Phillip M. Bolich of Andorra, Spain; and some cousins, including Billee Miller, Virginia Crowell, and Watt Prather. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bolich was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Palmer and Jessica Prather. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2007, at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Ferree and the Rev. Clay Manning. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 1909 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
