Julia Ann Sawyers

Mrs. Julia Ann Norman Sawyers, age 79, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Friday evening, October 8, 2020, at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy, NC.  She was born in Surry Co. on July 3, 1941, to the late William (Bill) Norman and to the late Frances Moser Norman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Clayton Sawyers, Sr. and by her son, Jimmy (Clayton) Sawyers, Jr.  She was a retired Deputy Sheriff from the Surry County Sheriff’s Department.  Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Terry Adams; grandson and his wife, T.W. and Mikala Adams; special friends, Terry and Bonnie Johnson, Lillie Vernon; several cousins, family, and friends.  Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM, Sunday October 11, 2020, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Monday, October 12, 2020, at 4:00 pm in the Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, NC.  Rev. Terry Johnson will conduct the services.  The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, from 3:00 PM until the time of her service at 4:00 PM or at other times at the home of her grandson at 1074 Prison Camp Road, Dobson, NC.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hope Fellowship Church, 1097 Tom Creek Church Rd. Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.  The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love and care given to Mrs. Sawyers.
