June Miller Stanley Harris

Ms. June Miller Stanley Harris, 80, of Elkin, widow of Howard Henderson Stanley, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010, at Heritage Care of Elkin. She was born April 19, 1930, in Surry County, to the late Junius A. and Mila Lenora Miller. Ms. Harris was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and service to the Lord. A faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she dearly loved singing in the choir, Ms. Harris will be dearly missed by all who know her. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Bobby Stanley and his wife, Cheryl, and Jean Peele and her husband, Randy, all of Elkin; her cherished grandchildren, Michelle Burchette and her husband, Kavin, of State Road, Susan Peele of Winston-Salem, and Brett Stanley and Megan Stanley, both of Elkin; two great-grandchildren, Kenley Burchette and Aathen Hauser; and two sisters, Jackie Sperry and Dot Barker and her husband, Vance, all of Winter Park, FL. In addition to her husband, Ms. Harris was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Adams and Anna Lee Jackson; and a brother, Odell Miller. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 4:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, with Dr. Andy Atkins officiating. A sunset burial will follow in the Little Richmond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, where her body will remain until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Choir Fund, c/o Tommy Edmondsm, 6678 NC 268, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heritage Care of Elkin and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving, compassionate care shown to Ms. Harris during her stay there.
