Junior Harold Hawks

Mr. Junior Harold Hawks, 75, of 104 Rocky Ridge Road, Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008, at his home. Mr. Hawks was born June 25, 1933, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William Paul and Rozella Cagle Hawks. Junior was a self-employed produce wholesaler and a member of Paul's Creek Baptist Church for 39 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita Combs Hawks of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Joey Marion and Christy and Chris Handy, all of Mount Airy, Sandy and Mike McMillian of Cana, VA, and Jeanie and Buddy Puckett of Ararat, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Hope Hawks of Cana, VA, and Joey Hawks of Mount Airy; sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, Joey Marion, Jr., Joshua and Elissa Marion, Jamie Marion, Mannie Hawks, E.J. Dalton, Telia and Jesse Dalton, Zachery Rogers, Lakin Rogers, Isaiah Puckett, Jeremiah Puckett, Corey Hawks, Colter Hawks, Carrie Hawks, William Handy, Austin Handy, and Trey Handy; five great-grandchildren, Bryson Marion, Jasmine Marion, Josiah Marion, Kustom Dalton, and Lyla Dalton; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ollie Hawks, Pauline and Clarence Hawks, Shirley Hawks, and Barbara and Richard Gentry, all of Cana, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Edwards, Hazel Hawks, and Mildred Rippey; and three brothers, Berlie Hawks, Billy Hawks, and Herman Hawks. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 27, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Paul's Creek Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Jones, and burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
