Karen Hayes Bowlin

Ms. Karen Hayes Bowlin, 66, of Mt. Airy, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home Sunday, August 8, 2021. She was born in Augusta, GA, to Nancy Jones Hayes and the late George Wayne Hayes, Jr. Karen was a dedicated nurse and lived her life sharing compassion with all her patients. She was a devoted loving mother to her son Gerald Douglas Bowlin that preceded her in death. In addition to her mother, Karen will be lovingly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Larry Ramey, brother George Wayne Hayes, III; nieces, nephews and their families, Shannon and Daryl Slate and son Adam, Zachary and Debbie Ramey and children Luke and Anna, Amanda Wright and David Sizemore and children Aliyah and Adison. In addition to her father and son, Karen was preceded in death by a sister Hedy Sue “Susie” Hayes Wright; and nephew Alan Gray Wright. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Blues Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Sechrist officiating. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Blue’s Grove Baptist Church on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
