Karen Carpenter

Karen Shoop Carpenter, 69, of Pilot Mountain, NC passed away Wednesday February 3, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born July 25, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Yount) Shoop, of Pittsburgh, PA.  Karen is survived by her Husband of 13 years, Christopher, daughter; Jennifer Lowery (Bryan) son; Michael Hohl; two grandsons; Kyle Lowery and Gabriel Hohl; sister’s, Nancy Shoop, Pamela Giardina (Gregory); nephews, Christopher Giardina, Matthew Giardina; sister and brother-in-law Suzanne and Jimmy Cooke.  Karen was a graduate of North Allegany High School and West Penn Nursing School.  Karen obtained her nursing degree from Slippery Rock University, her Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and obtained her PhD from The Union Institute.  Karen was a successful nurse and health care executive.  Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.  Karen enjoyed traveling, baking, doing crafts and completing crossword puzzles.  Karen was a kind lady who loved and cared for everyone around her.  In keeping with Karen’s wishes there will be no public memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the International Myeloma Foundation https://www.myeloma.org/about-imf.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
