Mrs. Karen Nesta Oakley Dillow, 70, widow of Mr. Elmer Harry Dillow, Jr. of Dobson passed on Sunday April 5, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Surry County on August 18, 1938 to the late John Hubert and Dorothy Elizabeth Hodges Goodson. Mrs. Dillow was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Rhonda Brown, of the home, Gail Snow of Dobson, Lynn Nichols of Sparta; two step-daughters, Debbie Poole of Fries, Va. and Melissa Dillow of Asheboro and a step-son, Ricky Dillow of Charlotte; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sharon Jarvis and Diane and husband Delane Todd; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Luther and Ruth Oakley of Dobson, Blain and Lucille Oakley of Mount Airy, Russell and Wanda Oakley of Lowgap and Mike Blevins of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dillow was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Glenn Brooks. Her funeral service will be held at 4 PM Wednesday April 8, 2009 at Liberty Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Oakley with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.
