Katherine Wilmoth Current

Katherine “Cathy” Wilmoth Current, 75, of Dobson, peacefully passed away December 9, 2021, surrounded by family at her home. She was born October 2, 1946 to the late Thomas Byrd and Stella Snow Wilmoth. Cathy was a life-long member of Salem Fork Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She worked for the Social Security Administration for 32 years.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, James William Current; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Rebecca Current; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Alan Unsworth; grandchildren, William and Aidan Current, Ethan and Grayson Unsworth.

Cathy was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Current, seven brothers, Spence and Maria (living) Wilmoth, Kent Wilmoth and Bernice Caligan (living), Tommy and Barbara (living) Wilmoth, Alfred and Frances Wilmoth, Don and Hazel (living) Wilmoth, Grady “Wayne” and Edna (living) Wilmoth, and Bruce Wilmoth.

Surviving are sisters and brother-in-law, Reva and Mac (deceased) McDevitt, Carolyn and Clay (deceased) Flippin; brother and sister-in-law, Michael “Pete” and Imogene Wilmoth; and many special nieces and nephews.

Cathy’s celebration of life service will be at 11:00am on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Salem Fork Christian Church with Pastor Austin Caviness officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery columbarium. The Current family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Fork Christian Church, 2490 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Current Family.

The Current family would like to give special thanks to Cathy’s loving caregiver, Teresa Wilkins, and to the many wonderful nurses from Mountain Valley Hospice.
