Katherine Dessie Nunn Adams Shively

Ms. Katherine Dessie Nunn Adams Shively, born in the Kibler Valley Community of Patrick County, Va. passed away at Golden Living Center on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. She was born on April 19, 1921 to the late Edward and Ada Smith Nunn. She loved her family and special friends very much. She was a seamstress most of her life, she loved her flowers and believed in waste not want not. She did not have a lot of earthly possessions but she was definitely a giver not a taker. She helped many many people in need. She attended Mt. Airy Pentecostal Church while able. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Johnny Adams whom she adopted the love of her life, her son Larry Dean Adams. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Lester, Jay, Bill and Jack Nunn, sisters Claire Nunn Martin, Joyce Nunn Anderson, Sarah Nunn Moore, Maybelle Nunn George, Peggy Nunn Crawley and infant twins Barbara and Bobby and an infant son Edward. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Renita Everidge Adams of Cana; grandson, Jacob Adams and fiancé Savannah Harold of Mt. Airy and granddaughter, Deena Adams Cook and her husband, Brandon of Pilot Mountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Stewart and Sherri Nunn of Wilmington, several nieces and nephews whom she loved to cook for. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday October 18, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Albert Everidge officiating. There will be no formal visitation at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Golden Living, some were very special to Granny and you know who you were.
