Kathleen Mast Austin

Mrs. Kathleen Mast Austin, 92, widow of Mr. Samuel "Sam" Austin, of Dobson went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 2, 2008. She was born in Watauga County on May 25, 1916 to the late James Taylor and Effie Wilson Mast. Mrs. Austin was a faithful member of Dobson First Baptist Church as long as her health permitted and was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. Survivors include four sisters, Pauline Mast Brown of Charlotte, Sylvia Mast Phillips of Reidsville, Nora Mast Haymore of Dobson and Sarah Mast Norris of Boone; a niece Jeannie Bickett; two nephews Ted Mast and James C. Greene and several other nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by a stepmother Madge Greene Mast; sister Maple Mast Greene; a brother Taylor Mast and a nephew Ed Greene. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday June 5, 2008 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. Rev. Jennie Bickett will conduct the services. The Family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy NC 27030. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and to the caregivers Catherine Hill and Linda Surratt for the love and care given to Mrs. Austin.
