Kathleen Slate Parker Heath

Ms. Kathleen Slate Parker Heath, 77, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Heath was born April 8, 1933, in Surry County, to the late Bill and Vera Draughn Slate. She was a homemaker and a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Mrs. Heath is survived by a son, Daniel Lee Parker of the home; three granddaughters, Melanie Lewis and her husband, Steve, of Oxford, MS, Renee Wright and her husband, Chris, of Marietta, GA, and Danielle Parker of Mount Airy; and five great-grandchildren, Dakota Lewis, Ella Lewis, Gabriel Wright, Raygan Wright, and Rylee Parker. In addition to her parents, Ms. Heath was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Yvonne Parker; a sister, Vinnia Smith; a brother, Willie Slate; and the father of her son, Robert Parker. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jimmy Slate officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 9, 2011, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
