Kathleen McPeak Smith

Mrs. Kathleen McPeak Smith, 84, of 7955 Snake Creek Road, Hillsville, VA, passed away Monday morning, March 21, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Smith was born September 7, 1931, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Johnny K. and Ruby Smith McPeak. Kathleen was a homemaker and a member of the Christian faith. She is survived by two daughters, Regina Dalton of the home and Cynthia Sechrist of Mount Airy; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David McPeak of Cana, VA, Jerry Lee and Clara McPeak of Corpus Christi, TX, Donnie and Nellie Walthers of Hillsville, VA, and Ernest Willie and Brenda Walthers of Knoxville, TN; thirteen grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; seventeen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Danny Hill of Tampa, FL; and a brother, Johnny Eugene McPeak of Christiansburg, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Edward Smith; two grandchildren, Darren Walthers and Hassell Smith; four sisters, Annlou Mitchum, Julia “Judy” Turman, Alease Choate, and Gracie McPeak; and a brother, Roy McPeak. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Johnny Easter and the Rev. Brent Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
