Mrs. Kathryn Otelia Collins Gates Capps, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Capps was born April 1, 1931, in Stokes County, to the late Walter Lee and Ruth Erna Collins. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a friend to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all her heart. Mrs. Capps retired from Lynne Hosiery and was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Joseph "Cecil" Capps of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Quinton "Junior" Stanley of Ararat, VA, and Lori and Randy Puckett of Mount. Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Mike Anderson of Pinnacle; two great-grandsons, Walker Bowman and Brady Anderson; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Mildred and Edgar McBride of Pilot Mountain and Debbie and Blaine Bowman of Mount Airy; several stepgrandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Dot Collins of King; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Capps was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Warren Gates; several sisters; and several brothers. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Dr. David Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Capps during her illness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, 128 Pentecostal Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
