Mrs. Katie Lou Moser Cooke, 68, of 2636 Poplar Springs Road, State Road, passed away early Sunday morning, February 3, 2013, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Mrs. Cooke was born February 23, 1944, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Robert Ray and Liza Shinault Moser. Katie was a homemaker and attended Zephyr Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Ray and Linda Freeman Cooke of State Road; three grandchildren, Candy Davis, Brandy Davis, and Wayne Freeman, all of State Road; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Moser Martin of State Road; a brother, Jackie Moser of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Kirkman and Rumell Cooke, both of Mount Airy; and a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Clarence and Edna Cooke of Pilot Mountain, Kathy Moser of Jonesville, and Ella Moser of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooke was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Glenn Cooke; and two brothers, Gene Moser and Roy Moser. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Indian Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Floyd, the Rev. Rickey Martin, and the Rev. Billy Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Indian Grove Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
