Miss Kayla Michelle Tate, age 34, of Mount Airy, gained her angel wings on May 14th at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. Kayla was born on January 1st, 1988, in Surry County to her mother Penny Joyce and father Tony Tate. Kayla was a beautiful soul with a radiant personality. She positively impacted everyone she met with her bright smile and contagious laugh. With her love to socialize, she never met a stranger. Always the life of the party, Kayla enjoyed road trips, outdoor activities, and boating with family and friends. She also greatly enjoyed watching Halloween movie marathons with her sisters. She will be deeply missed and remembered by all that knew her.  

Left to cherish her memories are her Mother, Penny Joyce; Father and Stepmother, Tony and Melody Tate; a special bonus Mom, Tracie Lowe; Sister, Hannah Tate and Tom Dunning; Sister and brother-in-law, Kelby and Tanner Hiatt; Sister, Kinley Tate; Sister, Kancie Tate; paternal Grandmother, Brenda Presley; Nephews, Baker Hiatt and Jackson Dunning; Niece, Zoe Dunning; Aunt and Uncle, Diane and Steve Joyce; Aunt and Uncle, Sheryl and David Smith; Cousins, Whitney, Harper and Jake Long; Cousin, Corbin Bedsaul and friend Julia Haynes; special Fur Baby, Lila Tate; also many friends.  

She was preceded in death by, children, twin baby boys; paternal Great-Grandparents, Dennis and Maggie Upchurch, Fred and Stella Tate; maternal Great-Grandparents, Archie and Cora Bowman, Hubert and Iris Lawson; paternal Grandfather, Wade Franklin Tate; maternal Grandfather, James Lawson; maternal Grandmother, Shirley Lawson; one aunt, Lisa Michelle Tate; one uncle, Ricky Wade Tate. 

The family would like to sincerely give thanks for the selfless love and care given by Dr. Tamas Bathory, Dr. Scott Corbin, and the entire staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Northern Regional Hospital.  

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Trent Lyons.
