Keara Cathleen Yates, 13, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She was born on May 30, 2009, in Jacksonville, NC to Hastings Yates Venable and the late Thomas Earl Yates.

Keara was an 8th grade student at J. Sam Gentry Middle School in Mount Airy, having played on the soccer and track teams.

She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Yates and her grandmother, Robin Hill. Keara is survived by her parents, Hastings and Jason Venable, her brother Keagan, grandparents Terrie and Robert Strange, David Hill and Debbie Steinberg, Julie Batista, and Kathy and Bob Scarborough. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle Bonnie and James Hill, and cousin, Sadie Hill.

Keara will be remembered by all as a kind, creative, and caring soul who loved fishing and the outdoors, and by her perseverance through any challenge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - North Carolina Chapter, 205 Regency Executive Park Drive, Suite 102, Charlotte NC 28217, or to the charity of one's choosing in Keara’s memory.

The family would like to thank all who have offered prayers and support during this time and wish each of you peace and love.

A celebration of Keara’s life will be held on Friday December 2, 2022, at 4:00PM at Grace Moravian Church, 1401 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC.
