Kenneth Wade Hawks

Mr. Kenneth Wade Hawks, 56, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Hawks was born February 1, 1954, in Surry County, to Eula Creed Hawks and the late Joe Hawks. He was employed at Mountain Lumber Company before his illness and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Hawks is survived by his wife, Gail Faye Holden Hawks of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Hawks and his fiancée, Kim Joyce, and James and Julie Hawks, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Landon Ryan Hawks and Lily Faith Hawks; his mother, Eula Creed Hawks of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Harold Blevins of Independence, VA; a brother, Billy Hawks of Mount Airy; a brother-in-law, Dale Holden of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Sandra Holden and Una Mae Tolbert Hawks. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moody Funeral Services, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030 to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
