Kenneth Craig Payne

Mr. Kenneth Craig Payne, age 53, of Tobaccoville, NC passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2009 from a motorcycle accident. He was born in Surry County on May 26, 1956 to the late Kenneth Ray Payne and to Dorothy Branch Payne Cave. He was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in California, Iceland and the Philippines. Mr. Payne was self employed and owned his own welding business. He took pleasure in his garden, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing Baseball when he was at Surry Central High School, and helped on the family farm raising tobacco.
Surviving are his wife Maria Lourdes Payne of the home; his mother and step-father Dorothy and George Cave of Dobson; three sisters and brothers-in-law Gaynell and Don Hayslip of Mt. Airy, Kathy and Richard Pegram of State Road, Pat and Mickey Brooks of Dobson; by two brothers and sisters-in-laws Tony and Patsy Payne of Cana, VA, Jody and Mercie Payne of Dobson; five nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday at Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Brother Mickey Brooks and Elder Steve Mosley will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Saturday evening from 6 until 8 PM and at other times at the home of his mother in Dobson, NC.
