Kennie Nelson Bobbitt, Sr.

Mr. Kennie Nelson Bobbitt, Sr., age 96, of Galax, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Baptist Hospital.  He was born in Carroll County on September 3, 1922, to Charlie and Frances Moore Bobbitt.  Mr. Bobbitt proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was retired from United Plastics.  Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Linda McGlockin, and Elaine Mack and Bobby; sons and daughters-in-law, Kennie “Nelson” Bobbitt, Jr. and Betty, and Charles Bobbitt and Deborah; step son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Williams and Gail; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bobbitt was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hawks Bobbitt; daughters, Sandra Garrett and Sheila Lawson; a step son, Ronnie Williams; and several sisters and brothers.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Hawks Family Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mtn. Post 9436 and Mt.
