Kevin Dean Draughon

Mr. Kevin Dean Draughon, 33, of Pinnacle, passed away Monday afternoon, November 21, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Draughon was born October 18, 1983, in Surry County, to Ronald Dean “Ronnie” Draughon and the late Bonnie June Lowe Draughon. Kevin was a registered respiratory therapist and ECMO specialist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was a devoted member of Firehouse Ministries and Chariots of Fire. Kevin is survived by his wife, Teara Royal Draughon of the home; two sons, Braelen Hunter Draughon, 3, and Dawson Reid Draughon, 1, both of the home; his father and stepmother, Ronald Dean “Ronnie” and Carol Draughon of Lowgap; a half-brother, Marcus Draughon of Portland, OR; a stepsister and her husband, Kari and Mark Johnson of Laurel Springs; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Irene Maines Lowe of Lowgap; his mother-in-law and her husband, Tonya and Mike Hulme of Dobson; his father-in-law, Darin Royal of State Road; a sister-in-law, Jadia Royal of Dobson; a special friend, Caitlin Carney of Winston-Salem; many special aunts, uncles, cousins; and many special friends and neighbors. In addition to his mother, Mr. Draughon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Lillie Worrell Draughon. A service of worship and celebration of Kevin’s life will be held Friday, November 25, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Johnson and the Rev. Philip Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. They will also receive friends in the fellowship hall at Mountain View Baptist Church immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Teara Royal Draughon, 1493 Bradley Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043, for the establishment of a trust fund for her sons.
