Klyne Jones Gates

Mrs. Klyne Jones Gates, 83, of Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Gates was born February 15, 1927, in Surry County, to Joseph W. and Grace Crissman Jones. She retired from Renfro Corporation. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Gates of Walnut Cove and Inez Gates and Van Gough of Kernersville; a son, Hugh Gates, Jr. of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Jon Gates; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Pete Smith of Winston-Salem, Verna and C.J. Midkiff of Newport News, VA, and Edith and Walter Glass of Norfolk, VA; and a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Peggy Jones of Amissville, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Nelson Gates, Sr.; a sister; and three brothers. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Darrell Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
