L. Ruth Payne Scott

Mrs. L. Ruth Payne Scott, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, October 9, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Scott was born March 29, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Ambrose and Nellie Moser Payne. Ruth retired from Renfro Corporation after many years of service. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pat Scott, Sandy and Ricky Edwards, and Angie and Greg Puckett, all of Mount Airy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Jane Scott of High Point, Gary and Penny Scott of Raleigh, and Steve Scott of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Klimonvitz of Baltimore, MD; and a brother, Kermit Payne of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Charles Scott; two sisters, Virginia Martin and Betty Mills; and two brothers, Howard Payne and Elmer Payne. A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 11, 2009, at 3:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Chaplain Craig S. Walker officiating. No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and the staff of Crest of Clemmons for the love, care, and kindness shown to Ruth during her illness.
