Mr. Lacy Franklin Jones, Jr. age 93 of Mt. Airy passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home Friday, January 27, 2012. Mr. Jones was born in Surry County on March 29, 1918 to the late Lacy Franklin and Vivian E. Jones, Sr.. He retired in 1984 as owner of Jones Oil Company. Mr. Jones was a member of Rockford Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for 60 years. Also during those years, Mr. Jones served as treasurer, chairman of the Administrative Board and Sunday School Teacher. He was a 52 year member of the Mt. Airy Lions Club serving in positions of treasurer; president and director. Mr. Jones is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Libby Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandsons and spouse, Mitchell and Sharlene Medley of Winston Salem, Mark Medley of Pilot Mountain and Chance Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; three great grandchildren and spouses; Matthew Medley, Jacob and Jessica Medley and Ryan and Andrew Janke; a great-great grandson, Toby Medley; sisters, Loraine Allred of Mt. Airy, Betty Sparger of Mt. Airy, Patsy Brown of Greensboro and Jerry Robinson of Fredricksburg, TX; a brother, Jack Jones of Mt. Airy; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Medley of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Lola Mae Bobbitt Jones; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Medley and Betty Jo Medley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence Brown, Paul Brown, Fred Brown, Paul Allred and Jack Allred. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday January 31, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenda Bramlet officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home.
