Lancy Landon Edwards

Mr. Lancy Landon Edwards, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Edwards was born May 14, 1936, in Carroll County, VA, to Myrtle Mae Edwards Hawks. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a retired plumber. Surviving are his devoted wife, Peggy Galyean Edwards of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Rhonda Edwards and Jerry and Laura Edwards, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Landon Ray Edwards and Jared Blake Edwards; stepgrandchildren, Nikki Goins and her husband, Terry, Victoria Murphy and her husband, Rob, and Crystal Edmonds and her husband, Steve; step-great-grandchildren, Hannah Murphy, Little Robert Murphy, Mattie Murphy, Thomas Murphy, Desiree Edmonds, Luke Edmonds, and Alyania Edmonds; sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen Hiatt, Maggie and Odell Jones, and Connie Galyean; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sterling and Opal Edwards, Ronnie and Sandra Hawks, Otto and Carlene Hawks, and Bobby and Judy Hawks; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lance Edwards; and brothers, Rafus "Ray" Hawks and George Lewis "Joe" Hawks. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. James Jones, the Rev. Johnny Easter, and the Rev. Mark Sumner officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
