Larry Joe Altizer

Mr. Larry Joe Altizer, age 69, of Bassett, Virginia passed away at his home on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born on October 31, 1953 to the late Arvel Altizer and Lake Morgan Altizer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sharon Warrix, Regina Spence and Vickie Ward. Larry was a master hunter, fisherman, and a tremendous friend. He was “Papa Larry” to his grandchildren, and he loved them dearly. Larry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish the memory of Larry are his wife, Mary Foley Altizer of the home; five daughters, Michele Davidson (Howard) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Christinia Vint (Chris) of Brenton, West Virginia, Cindy Foley of Kernersville, North Carolina, Brandy Foley of Bassett, Virginia, and Andrea Foley, of Bassett, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Olivia, Devontay, Brayden, Asjah, Brianna,  and Madisyn; three brothers, Ray Altizer (Debbie) of Welch, West Virginia, Stanley Altizer (Gina) of London, Kentucky, Ronnie Miller (Linda) of Beckley, West Virginia; one sister, Peggy McCracken of Beckley, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral for Larry will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Michael Morrison officiating. The burial will immediately follow in the Walter J. Foley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon.
