Mr. Larry Ray Dollyhigh, Sr., 62, of 134 English Primrose Lane, Dobson, died Friday afternoon, July 16, 2010, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Yadkin County. Mr. Dollyhigh was born April 26, 1948, in Surry County, son of Ralph Beamer Dollyhigh and the late Pauline Collins Dollyhigh. Larry served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver for more than 35 years and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Most importantly, Larry was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Draughn Dollyhigh of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray and Shana Dollyhigh of Dobson, Shane Dollyhigh of Buford, GA, and Jarett and Tammie Dollyhigh of Elizabeth, CO; three grandchildren, Savannah Dollyhigh of Dobson, McKayla Dollyhigh of Buford, GA, and Luke Dollyhigh of Elizabeth, CO; his father, Ralph Beamer Dollyhigh of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Camden Eaton of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Ruth Dollyhigh and Gary and Celia Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his mother, Mr. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Lillie Mae Collins and Brady and Ethel Dollyhigh. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
