Larry Jacob Mayes

Mr. Larry Jacob Mayes, age 54 of Cana passed away at his home Sunday, April 27, 2008. Mr. Mayes was born in Carroll County VA May 4, 1953 to the late Frank Willie and Ida Mae Felts Mayes. He was a retired truck driver for the city of Mt. Airy. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lea Anna and Randy Goins, Susan and Jason Chilton all of Mt. Airy; a son, Levi Jacob Mayes of the home; two grandchildren, Olivia Goins and Isaac Chilton; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Heath and Sue Mayes of Richmond, VA, Steve and Betty Mayes of Cana, Gary and Ann Mayes of Cana and Jeff and Kay Mayes of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayes was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Annette Mayes. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Flat Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dennis Bledsoe. Burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where his body will remain until time to be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
