Larry Joe Nichols

Mr. Larry Joe Nichols, 68, of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday night, February 12, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  He was born in Surry County on June 8, 1953, to the late Jesse Franklin Nichols, Jr. and Verna Leona Key Nichols.  Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who loved spending time with his family and riding his Kubota.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 26 years, Rose Cawley Nichols; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittney and Jordan Sands; his precious granddaughter whom he loved and adored and called him Papa, Addison Marie Sands; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his only sibling, Wanda Joy Nichols Atkins.  A service of worship and celebration of Mr. Nichols’ life will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Edwards and Rev. James Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Nichols family.
