Larry Dean Payne

Mr. Larry Dean Payne, age 74, of Dobson passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Forsyth County at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Winston-Salem, NC.  He was born in Surry County on February 6, 1949, to the late Alex Payne and to Evelyn Lawson Payne. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy Payne.  He was a retired Computer Programmer for Quality Mills and was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.  Surviving is his wife, Shirley Mayes Payne; son, Denton Payne; grandchildren, Hassie Payne, Dalton and Hannah Payne, Dawson Payne, Nattlee Payne, Emily Reeves and Justin, Becky Jones Spencer and Michael, Jeffrey Payne; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Jones, Amos Spencer, Sophia Spencer, Justin “JJ” Reeves, Carson Reeves; his mother, Evelyn Lawson Payne; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Hawks, Yvonne Smith, Gaye Payne,  Amy and Roger Stamper, Janet Johnson; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Carolyn Payne, Ivan “Buck” Payne: special mother-in-law, Hassie Jarrell.  Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Elder Carlton Brown will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of his service at 3:00 PM.
