Larry Jack Portis

Mr. Larry Jack Portis, 44, of 366 McBride Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Portis was born November 10, 1963, in Surry County, to Delane Coble Portis and the late Alton Jack Portis. He was a custodian at Franklin Elementary School and a member and lay speaker of Faith and Gospel Church. He is survived by his wife, Diana Hall Portis of the home; a daughter, Katlin Elizabeth "Beth" Portis of the home; two sons, Stephen Nathanael Portis and Michael Colton Portis, both of the home; his mother, Delane Coble Portis of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger Dale and Robin Portis of Mount Airy; and his mother-in-law, Clinnie Gammons Hall of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be Monday, April 28, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Hall, the Rev. Tommy Floyd, and Alan Easter. Burial will follow in the Portis Family Cemetery in Ararat, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
