Larry Dean Scott

Mr. Larry Dean Scott, 73, of Mt. Airy, passed away at his home, Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born in Surry County, October 21, 1947, to the late C.L. and Barbara Marshall Scott. Mr. Scott was a member and past master of Round Peak Lodge #616 AF & AM. He retired from Scenic Motors after 53 years of employment. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gwyn Scott; daughters and son-in-law, Amy Scott and William Morris, Jamie and Tony Raymond; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Dean “Scotty” Scott, II and Amy; god child, Laken Lawson; grandchildren, Emilee Balthis, Jaxton Raymond, Cooper Scott, and Lily Scott; his army brother, David Blankenship. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with speakers, David Blankenship, Justin Gough, and his three children. Dr. Jonathan Casstevens will be officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors by the VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436, and also Masonic rites. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a special thank you to his nurses Celena, Rhonda and Chaplin Dr. Jonathan Casstevens of Mountain Valley Hospice.
