Larry Edward Shockley

Mr. Larry Edward Shockley, 57, of 125 Brookberry Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Mr. Shockley was born December 18, 1951, in Surry County, the only child born to Edward Shockley and the late Minnie Frances Ramey Shockley. Larry was employed at Northside Group and Mayberry Water Works. Mr. Shockley was a member of Flat Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, VA. He is survived by his wife, Delana Mabe Shockley of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Z. Stan Smith of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Reece Watson of Mount Airy; two stepgrandchildren, Macy Smith and Jackson Smith, both of Mount Airy; his father, Edward Shockley of Cana, VA; and a special friend, Allan Watson of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Flat Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Phillips and the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Carmen and Z.
