Mrs. Launa Mae Cave Woodle, age 90, of Dobson passed away on Wednesday evening October 7, 2009 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on January 14, 1919 to the late Thomas Richard Cave and Bessie Hudson Cave. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Emmett Ivan Woodle; two sisters Mary Turlington and Jenny Heidenreich; five brothers Ernest, Frank, Richard, Elwood, and Jasper Cave. Mrs. Woodle was a retired underwriter for the Prudential Insurance Co. in Jacksonville Florida and was a homemaker; she was a member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church were she taught Sunday School for over twenty years. Surviving are her daughter-and son-in-law Janice and David Ashton, of Dobson; two sons, Ivan W. Woodle, of the home, and David M. Woodle of Bakersfield, CA; eight grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law Jane and Jasper Bunker, of Mt. Airy, Cora Lee and Melvin Womble, of Siler City, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law Tommy and Mary Cave, of Dobson, Johnny and Leigh Cave of Harbinger, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday October 10, 2009 at Central View Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. With Rev. Travis Chipman and Rev. Todd Byrd officiating the services. Her body will be taken from Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson to lie in state 30 min. before the service. The Family will receive friends at Central View Missionary Baptist Church on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or Memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
