Laura Frances Kirkman Simpson

Mrs. Laura Frances Kirkman Simpson age, 92, of Winston-Salem, widow of Robert Franklin Simpson, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Simpson was born in Surry County on October 2, 1914. She was the daughter of the late W.L. Kirkman and Dora Anna Short Kirkman. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Fassifern Academy and attended Salem College. She was a member of Ardmore Moravian Church, the Camel City White Shrine, and was retired from Montaldo's in Winston-Salem where she enjoyed helping customers for 34 years. Mrs. Simpson was a wonderful and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother who was very active in life. She attributed her vitality to an acute sweet-tooth and enjoyed dancing, bridge, golf, and traveling extensively with her family and friends. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Frances Jones of Advance; a son and daughter-in-law, William Robert and Ronda Simpson of Kennewick, WA; five grandchildren and spouses, Randall Simpson and Christine Johnson both of Seattle, WA, Laura Jones Bargaehr and Madison of Milddleton, WI, Alicia Jones Peters and Chris of Media PA and Brad Jones and Susan of Charlotte. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Simpson and brothers Fred, Raymond, Claude and Joe Bill Kirkman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Lee Strange with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.
