Lauri Legere

Lauri Legere, 50, of Mount Airy, NC, was called to be an angel to the Lord Sunday night, January 23, 2022. She was born October 17, 1971 in Warren, PA to Rita Pittock and the late Larry Bielawski. She and her husband, Jan Legere, were blessed with 26 years of marriage. In addition to her loving husband, Lauri is survived by two beautiful children, Braydon (20) and Trisaia (18), four step-children, two brothers, a step-sister, and her mother, step-father, and step-mother, Donna Bielawski, who came from Pennsylvania to help nurse her through her illness. There will be a memorial service held in her honor Saturday, January 29 at 5:00pm at Mount Airy Christian Church (974 South Franklin Rd. Mount Airy, NC 27030). All are welcome.

She and her husband were inseparable for 27 years. They worked side-by-side at Jantec Sign Group LLC, attended Mount Airy Christian Church together, and went through every aspect of life as partners. Raising their children in a godly manner was the highlight of Lauri’s life.

Lauri and her family enjoyed camping, traveling, and refurbishing their 1924 era house to the pristine vestige of what it was in the 1920’s. Lauri loved to feed the community. She would bake cookies and fudge every Christmas for hoards of families. She was a gracious and welcoming hostess who loved nothing more than to spend the day cooking a truly marvelous meal for both her friends and church groups.

Since the young age of 12, Lauri could always be found in church classrooms and nurseries. Teaching preschoolers and kindergarteners was one of her greatest joys in life. She loved and was loved by them, becoming a second mother to many. “She’s the type of person who was a natural mother, even to people who weren't her kids.”- a former kid.

She was dedicated to Christ, smart as a whip, and gifted with a great sense of humor - “Much more wife than I deserve,“ her husband would often express. Lauri and her husband had a special way of throwing wisecracks at each other, often leaving others in the room rolling with laughter. Lauri lit up every room she entered.

She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be terribly missed. Heaven has gained a most beautiful angel.
