Lawrence Wharton Douglas

Mr. Lawrence Wharton "Doug" Douglas, 83, of 159 Pineview Drive, Mount Airy, slipped away to be with his Savior on Friday, July 18, 2008, at his home. Mr. Douglas was born June 29, 1925, in Modest Town, VA, to the late Edwin and Lola Lambertson Douglas. Lawrence served our country in the United States Navy and retired as a master mason/carpenter from Wholson Construction Company in Lancaster, PA. He spent his life in the construction trade, beginning in road and bridge work and then in commercial building. His special joy was cement finishing. Mr. Douglas was a member of Mount Airy Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Henderson Douglas of the home; a daughter, Loraine Douglas of Lancaster, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Dorsey Hickman of Stockton, MD; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Douglas of Ellicott City, MD, and Wallace and Faye Douglas of Ephrata, PA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy Douglas. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 21, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Mount Airy Church of Christ. The service will be conducted by Brother Wayne Williamson, and entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mount Airy Church of Christ.
